Hello and welcome to Allwinds Dog First Aid Ltd.

My name is Amanda Williams and I am a qualified veterinary nurse. My experience in the veterinary industry includes the position of Head Nurse at a mixed practice. My responsibilities included, overseeing the nursing care of the animal patients, the day to day running of the practice and assisting the vets with their consultations and surgical operations.

Whilst in practice I also became the regional co-ordinator for the BVNA ( British Veterinary Nursing Association) which I am still a member of today. After leaving practice, I joined a company called Ethicon Ltd as a Territory Manager. I sold wound closure products to the veterinary market and presented lectures to students on wound closure and care, alongside running suture technique workshops. In my spare time I taught student vet nurses at Bicton College of Agriculture. After a number of years with Ethicon, I returned to practice as a Practice Manager. I left practice this time to join a company called Snell 2000 which sells specialised pneumatic equine operating tables. Since then I have focused on raising my two children. When they reached school age, I entered into education, becoming a Learning Support Assistant and, among other things, qualified as a Forest School teacher.

Now here I am coming full circle back to one of the things I love most...dogs!

I am immensely lucky to be able to use my veterinary nursing experience to help dog owners/carers gain the skills and confidence to cope in an emergency until veterinary support is available.

I look forward to welcoming you to an Allwinds Dog First Aid course soon, please click below to see where your nearest course is being held.

I learnt so much from this course and now feel an increased confidence whilst dog walking. The course was informative, relevant and also contained excellent practical activities. Highly recommended.

What a fun and informative course this is, thoroughly enjoyed it, learnt a lot and would recommend to anyone working with dogs.

First aid for dogs course. I found this course interesting and fun. Take a note book and writing equipment as you will need to make notes – you will never remember all you learn!. Taught at a level to suit dog owners/dogwalkers

Fantastic course! I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. It's a brilliant course if you want to work with dogs or just learn how to look after your own dog in an emergency. Also I have a few mobility issues and the lady from allwinds was really helpful and adapted parts of the course for me so I could still take part. Thank you!

Really great course for anyone with an interest in dogs.
The course was delivered in a very friendly manner, with good use of props and medical supplies.
Really enjoyed the hands on approach!
